ATMOS UNIVERSE

Explore the world, societies, characters, and technology.

Two worlds locked in chaos

HIGHSPIRE

A technologically elite, financially dominant aerial society living in vertical megacities suspended above the ground. They prioritize technological advancement and believe innovation alone can save humanity. Their greatest achievement: The Atmos Engine, a climate-regulation system designed to stabilize the planet’s weather.

EARTHWELL

A ground-level society focused on food security, ecological repair, education, medical access, and fair resource distribution. They believe technological excess has widened inequality and fueled environmental collapse.

ATMOS ENGINE

The Atmos Engine is a vast, planet‑spanning climate system built by the airborne cities of Highspire. Suspended far above the ruined Earth, it weaves together atmospheric turbines, orbital data, and predictive climate models to keep the air safely breathable and the storms supposedly under control. For the citizens of Highspire, it is the ultimate proof that technology can fix anything—if you’re willing to pay the price. For those living on the ground in Earthwell, the Atmos Engine is something else entirely: a distant, humming god in the clouds. Its invisible hand decides when it rains, when the skies clear, and when dust storms roll across already-broken soil. To them, it’s a reminder that one faction holds the thermostat of the planet—and that any miscalculation will be felt hardest by the people below.Function: A centralized climate‑regulation network designed to stabilize a post‑collapse world.
Symbol: Highspire’s faith in progress, control, and data-driven salvation.
Conflict: A system meant to protect everyone, owned and operated by a privileged few.

SOLVINE ORE

Solvine Ore is a rare, unstable, bioluminescent mineral found only in fractured chasms along the border between Highspire’s shadow and Earthwell’s reclaimed lands. It has a singular, dangerous talent: it can drink in raw atmospheric energy. Stored correctly, that energy can be redirected into turbines, stabilizers, and life‑saving infrastructure. Mishandled, it becomes volatile, unpredictable, and deadly. To Highspire’s engineers, Solvine is the missing key—an element that could reinforce the failing systems that keep their Skyspires aloft and the climate in check. To Earthwell’s communities, it is a lifeline: a way to power water‑purification rigs, shield crops from hostile weather, and build a future that doesn’t depend on those above. Every fragment of ore is a promise of survival—and a potential weapon in the wrong hands.Nature: A reactive, glowing mineral that absorbs and stores atmospheric energy.
Value: Essential to advanced climate tech above and grassroots survival tech below.
Tension: Too rare to share easily, too powerful for either side to trust the other with.
